The Brief:

Project 1: SweepSouth wanted an insurance solution to offer to private employers of Domestic Workers (not necessarily clients using their platform) to give their Domestic Worker comprehensive insurance that would protect them and their families if they passed away, became disabled or were severely sick.

Project 2: SweepSouth wanted to provide an insurance product for items easily broken/damaged in the course of a Domestic Workers duties like crockery, glasses, small furniture items and clothing.

The Solution:

Project 1: SureStart consulted with Actuaries to design a Domestic Worker insurance product. This Product was then underwritten By Lion Of Africa Life Assurance Company Limited, digitised by Briisk Instant Transaction Platform and white labelled as "SweepSouth Domestic Worker Insurance".

Project 2: SureStart partnered with TPI, a UMA, to embed an API in the SweepSouth checkout flow. This provides the end user with R3000 Unspecified All-Risk Cover and R5000 Home Contents Cover for the duration of the SweepStar's visit.

Although SweepSouth is a juristic representative of SureStart Online Financial Services (FSP no. 47233), all enquiries that go to SweepSouth regarding the insurance product are diverted back to our call center for compliance monitoring.

The Project:

The Flash Network provides a platform for vendors to sell airtime, electricity and various other services from a smart device. SureStart approached Flash with a proposal to place a funeral policy in their network that would be tailored to the customers already in their market and the payment methods they use.

One of these payment methods is 1voucher. 1voucher converts cash into a 16 digit pin that can be used to buy through approved vendors and acts like any credit or debit card.

The Solution:

SureStart partnered with TPI, a UMA, to tailor an existing funeral product to the Flash Network. The Eyethu Funeral Policy Product was adjusted to accept 1Voucher payments and a AI Bot was created that allows the user to buy a policy through Whatsapp. To our knowledge, this is the first insurance policy that be be bought through Whatsapp without any human intervention in South Africa. The policy also allows the policyholder to pay the monthly premium in multiple payments within the month so weekly earners can pay as-and-when they have funds with a 1voucher.

The Project:

Surestart saw an opportunity to create a click-to-buy Travel Insurance product that could be distributed through an affiliate network of independent travel agents and companies that wanted to provide travel insurance to their customers.

The Solution:

SureStart approached Hollard Travel and agreed to white label their travel insurance products and digitise them through Briisk Instant Transaction Platform. Surestart owns the Travelsafe brand and does all the digital marketing. We provide affiliates with a unique URL that allows them to easily refer clients to us and earn commission for doing so.

Our most successful affiliate to date has been Just Car Hire who have the Car Excess Waiver API built into their vehicle hire checkout process. A client simply clicks a box and a policy is triggered on a successful checkout.

The Project:

Webtickets is the biggest ticketing platform in South Africa. There was an opportunity to create an "attendance insurance" product for tickets sold through their platform. This would cover the ticket holder for the cost of their ticket if they couldn't attend their event due to sickness, public transport delays or severe weather.

The Solution:

SureStart sourced the product through CHUBB insurance and digitised it through Briisk Instant Transaction Platform. This product is an API that is built into the checkout flow. If a client ops-in for the insurance product, the information gets sent to the system, the policy is put into pending until a payment confirmation is received and then the policy document is sent instantly to the client after a successful purchase of their ticket.

The Project:

TPI, a UMA, worked with Pargo to create a custom-designed Goods In Transit policy that stripped out a lot of the unnecessary costs that Pargo were paying on their commercial policy. Under South AFrican law, UMA's may not interact directly with clients and need to go through an authorised FSP.

The Solution:

SureStart is the authorised FSP for the GIT (Goods In Transit) policy for Pargo and assists in the administration and claims process.
